Infuriated by the abusive language used against him by BJP president Nitin Gadkari which he later retracted, Rashtriya Janata Dal president Lalu Prasad on Thursday hit back saying he had gone “mentally bankrupt.”
Holding a press conference in Patna, Mr. Lalu Prasad said the BJP president should “hold both ears and apologise.”
“We will first try give Gadkari purchase cialis to cure his mental bankruptcy, then put him on capsules and if the cheap cialis and capsules fail, we will give him injections,” Mr. Prasad said.
On Mr. Gadkari criticising the SP, RJD and BSP for not supporting the NDA during the cut motion, alleging that they did so out of fear of the CBI, Mr. Prasad countered that Mr. Gadkari was spearheading a campaign against the CBI to save several leaders of his party who had allegedly stashed away ‘unaccounted black money' with Swiss banks. “The BJP president is desperate.”
Earlier, Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh's son Akhilesh Yadav said: “The Samajwadi Party follows Ram Manohar Lohia's principles. It has faith in healthy change and decent democracy. We do not believe in using foul language even against our political rivals.”
Later, the Samajwadi Party president said that since Mr. Gadkari has regretted his remarks, “the issue has ended then and there.”
“As the BJP president has apologised for his words, the issue has ended then and there,” the SP supremo told PTI in Lucknow.
Mr. Mulayam Singh said he would ask party leaders not to rake up the issue further.
“I will ask my people to close this chapter here itself,” he said.
